Three leading ladies (albeit from different time frames) - Sridevi, Preity Zinta and Kareena Kapoor, three big projects - English Vinglish, Ishqk In Paris and Heroine, and they are all ready to hit the theatres on the same day - September 21, 2012.
While Gauri Shinde's tale of a housewife trying to master the English language will see Sri return to the silver screen after 15 years, Ishqk In Paris is perhaps Zinta's last attempt at swaying the box office.
As for Kareena, Madhur Bhandarkar's saga about the rise and fall of an actress, is kind of an acid test. And though, the three leading ladies may want their big projects to run to full theatres for weeks, none of the filmmakers are ready to budge from their scheduled release date. However, TOI has learnt that English Vinglish producers Eros International are reconsidering their decision. If insiders are to be believed Sridevi may have to bow out of the race.
According to a source close to the production house, Eros is now looking at an early October release for their venture. "They want to postpone the release of English Vinglish by two weeks," said the source. However, Gauri Shinde's husband R Balki said everything is going 'as planned'.
Needless to say, their 'plans' clash with those of Bhandarkar's, who recently expressed his wish to release the film on Bebo's birthday. It was earlier supposed to hit the theatres a week earlier. Bhandarkar's sudden change of heart put Bebo at loggerheads with her 'idol' Sridevi and Preity.
"Eros may announce a new release date soon," added the source. As for Preity's film, it will in all probability hit the theatres alongside Kareena's Heroine.
