Bollywood news:Yuvvraaj a moneyspinner

Indian film industry's original showman Subhash Ghai has reportedly made a huge table profit on his forthcoming film Yuvvraaj, and that too before its release.

It happened like this, Ghai had a deal with Eros International for three films, worth Rs 75 crores. But due to some differences Ghai moved out, and sold the domestic theatrical rights of Yuvvraaj to Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision for Rs 40 crores, making a straight profit of Rs 10 crore on his film made on a budget of Rs 30 crores.

After the promos of Yuvvraaj were aired on satellite channels, there has been considerable interest in the film. Though it was rumoured that Studio 18 wanted to buy the theatrical rights of the film from Ashtavinayak for Rs 60 crore, that does not seem to be the case. Our sources from Studio 18 clarified that "this is not true," as the "business model is entirely different". Studio 18 spokesperson further adds, "We are only interested in World rights, and Yuvvraaj is not being considered."

However, overseas and satellite rights of Yuvvraaj will remain with Eros.

What makes Yuvvraaj such a hot proposition is the Salman-Katrina pairing. After the success of Dus Ka Dum, Salman too is a hot property in India and overseas and Katrina's stocks are already high in India and overseas after she delivered six consecutive hits with Namastey London, Apne, Partner, Welcome, Race and Singh Is Kinng.

Subhash Ghai had signed a three film deal for 75 crore with Eros International. The three films were Bombay To Bangkok, Black & White and Yuvvraaj. Eros International was banking a lot on this movie because Ghai's earlier films Bombay To Bangkok and Black & White didn't do good business. There are all kinds of rumours doing the rounds but it is still not clear, as to what transpired between Eros International and Ghai, which led to this split.

Yuvvraaj stars Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Anil Kapoor, Zayed Khan, Boman Irani and Mithun Chakraborty. AR Rahman has composed the music while Gulzar has penned the lyrics. The film is slated to be release on November 21.
