REVIEW: Love Aaj Kal sure hit

There are three reasons why you must catch Love Aaj Kal ASAP – dialogues, performances and music. Imtiaz Ali's tale of love, then and now is a light hearted and refreshing watch. Burnout, commitment phobia, long distance relationships – issues the minus 30-generation can easily identify with, are subtly touched upon thought the movie. Here's a film that actually talks the talk. Like Socha Na Tha and Jab We Met, Imtiaz Ali's third film also rests on a wafer-thin plot. The director uses smart one-liners and life-like situations to take the story forward. Love Aaj Kal is about Jai (Saif Ali Khan) an urban, alpha male who can't understand the meaning of love. His girl friend Meera (Deepika Padukone) also believes in choosing career over romance. After a mutual breakup, Jai meets the grand old Veer (Rishi Kapoor). He narrates his own love story to give Jai a peak into old-fashioned romance. The conflicting approaches to love form the base of Love Aaj Kal.
The narrative runs in multiple timelines – which can get confusing sometimes. Imtiaz Ali uses a clever, non-linear edit pattern to draw parallels between his two stories. Saif Ali Khan is in home turf as Jai. Playing a role similar to Kal Ho Na Ho and Hum Tum, Saif is charming as ever with his wise cracks and mannerisms. However it's in the emotional sequences towards the end, where you realise how much he has matured over the years. Casting him as young Rishi Kapoor, is bit of a cinematic liberty. But it works in the context of the film - even though Khan's Punjabi is not very authentic. You can often sense the metrosexual Saif wanting to break out of the turban. Deepika Padukone is the real surprise. Looking her best ever, Deepika delivers a surprisingly effortless performance. A scene where she checks herself out in the mirror before heading for a date is a gem of a moment. And yes! For the first time we discover that the girl knows how to cry. Rishi Kapoor is spontaneous as the romantic Sardar. Watch out for his surprise in the climax. Imtiaz's dialogues are once again straight out of everyday conversations. The scenes between Rishi and Saif are bound to remind you of the advice your dad gives you about settling down in life. As a technician Imtiaz shows shades of Yash Raj romances. Pritam's stupendous score adds tremendous value to the film, making the proceedings even livelier.
Any minuses? Yes! The second half could have been 20 minutes shorter. Also, while the easy pace of the film works for the theme, it often tends to get slow. This film wastes little time in the boy meets girl part and is quick to get to the point. But the point could have been made in under two hours.
On the face of it a lot of sequences appear shallow. Unlike Jab We Met where the comic portions and dramatic ones were distinctly spelt out, here the emotions are pretty understated. There's a lot of depth in the seeming light hearted portions. It's a multiplex film in the truest sense of the word. Love Aaj Kal is not perfect. But in one of Bollywood's dullest years, this one comes as a refreshing ray of hope. It's bound to bring a smile on your face. Here's a film with both head and heart.Verdict: It's the coolest film of the year

Police file report in complaint case against John Abraham

New Delhi: Delhi police on Thursday filed a report in a court on a man`s complaint seeking registration of a criminal case against Bollywood actor John Abraham for allegedly posing indecently in a photograph published in a Hindi daily recently.
An action taken report was submitted on behalf of the Station House Officer of Motinagar police station in the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Ashish Aggarwal.The court, however, put the matter for September one for giving complainant C M Dua an opportunity to put forward arguments in the matter.Dua, who runs a NGO, sought registration of a FIR against model-turned-actor Abraham, the publisher and the editor of the daily.The court had on July seven asked the SHO, Motinagar, to file an action taken report in the matter since the complaint alleged commission of cognisable offences under Section 292 and 294 (relating to spread of obscene material) of the IPC.The complainant had alleged that he was appalled to find the magzine supplement of the daily dated June 11 carrying a "nude" photograph of Abraham at the study desk of his children.Dua, through his counsel R Chhabra, had claimed the police had not taken any action on his complaint, prompting him to approach the court.Bureau Report

Deepika resumes shooting for Sajid Khan’s Housefull

Deepika Padukone was bitten by the malaria bug, but the actress has resumed shooting. Sajid Khan has a houseful of actors shooting for his Housefull and so with Deepika falling ill, it was going to threaten the schedule out of gear. But according to Sajid Khan, all is well.
Talking to Businessofcinema.com from his shooting location in London, the director said, “Deepika is 90% well and she has resumed shooting.” That certainly brings some relief for the producer, Sajid Nadiadwala who has some of the biggest names in the industry acting in his film.
Akshay Kumar’s dates are precious as he is shooting round the clock. He had given bulk dates for Housefull to Sajid and is expected to be with them till September end. The film unit moves from London to Italy and then for a final week of shooting in Las Vegas.
The other stars in the film are Arjun Rampal, Lara Dutta, Riteish Deshmukh and Jiah Khan.

Love Aaj Kal has undoubtedly created enough buzz to ring the bells in cine-goers heart. Wonder, what the unique selling point of the film is The clichéd words from the makers of Jab We Met- Imtiaz Ali, the groovy music or Saif and Deepika’s anticipated promising jodi or last, but not the least the veiled newcomer paired opposite the Sardar Saif.
Whatever it is, Love Aaj Kal seems to have tremendous potential to pull the audience in the theatres at least AAJ. A lot more will depend on the reviews and word of mouth, be it in favor or against for this film in KAL. The film is touted as the most eagerly anticipated release of this year; no doubt it is expected to pull in a stupendous opening and Industry experts are hoping that Love Aaj Kal will rake in more than 80 percent openings in small sectors as well as metros.
The pre-release promotion is considerably modest, considering the recent pre-release hype that was created during Kambakkht Ishq and more recently LUCK. Saif is holding on to his horses and is rightly not going overboard on promotions, as we have recently seen that generating excessive hype before release usually goes against the movie.
The promos are showing an interesting and different look on love, and give an overall feel-good look to the film. What works for Love Aaj Kal is also the fact that it is the only release this Friday, with Luck declared a flop; it has absolutely no competition in either multiplexes or on single screens. Also, next Friday sees the release of RGV’s Horror flick Agyaat and Satish Kaushik’s Teen pregnancy drama Teree Sang, both lack the mass appeal of Love Aaj Kal. Though Teree Sang might prove to be a dark horse but, due to its star power Love Aaj Kal actually gets an extended week to play on, provided its successful run this week.
One thing that will remain unchanged in any condition is– Luck will continue to remain unlucky despite pulling in a great opening in the beginning.

Hopes and prayers are being pinned on ‘Love Aaj Kal’. The movie directed by Imtiaz Ali has been frequently doing rounds in the media, airing lot of behind-the-scene titbits. After her failure with ‘Chandni Chowk to China’, Deepika Padukone the leading lady is being cross-fingered over this one.
But it is not only the cast and crew who are hoping for the best of the movie. Saif’s lady love is equally anticipating for the movie’s success. The movie is Siaf’s first time venture in production and so he is very keen on the movie’s faring. Along with him, Kareena too is very on the movie to be a hit. She shared her wish by saying, “I really want 'Love Aaj Kal' to break all box-office records. Yes, 'Kambakkht Ishq' is my film but then so is 'Love Aaj Kal'. For both Saif and me 'Love Aaj Kal' is a not just a prestigious project but also something which is very close to our hearts.”
Besides being her beau’s movie, Bebo wants the Imtiaz movie to win as it is him who gave her career a boost by giving her ‘Jab We Met’. Actor-producer Saif Ali Khan has managed to resolve the controversy surrounding his maiden production Love Aaj Kal just two days before its release.
The Punjab Cultural and Heritage Board which had earlier objected to the portrayal of the Sikh community in the film accepted an apology from Saif in Mumbai on Wednesday evening.
Apart from the apology,15 seconds of the film will be cut as per the board's demand. The apology includes regret by Saif for not growing his beard long enough, while the shots edited out of the film depict a Sardar visiting the Gurudwara to woo a girl.
"The board had a problem with the film, which was legitimate, Gurudwara is a place of worship and we should not be disrespect that. Even though my film did not try to disrespect, we will edit the sequence," said Saif.
Earlier films like Singh is Kinng and Jo Bole So Nihaal had run into trouble with certain Sikh representatives. Now the Punjab Cultural and Heritage Board made it clear that this was the last apology they would accept from Bollywood.
"This is to inform all the people in Bollywood that we will not accept anymore letters henceforth, if you have any problem come and consult the board free of cost, and we will help you portray Sikh characters, this is the last time we are letting a film get away with this," said President of Punjab and cultural Heritage Board, Charan Singh Sapra.
All is well that ends well. The good news is that all the film buffs can catch the much awaited Saif-Deepika starer Love Aaj Kal on Friday.

Shahid Amrita
Though Shahid Kapur and Amrita Rao embarked into their Bollywood journey together with Ishk Vishq, Vivaah kick started rumours of the two being romantically inclined. There were also speculations that during those times Shahid was very much in relationship with Kareena Kapoor who was quite miffed with the reports. And they hit the bonsai as people thronged theatres to see the deep-in-love pair. But later everyone realised they are just good friends.

Shahid Vidya
After being once bitten by the love bug very badly, Shahid Kapur has decided to be as shy as possible. So he, apparently, hooked-up with Vidya Balan on the sets of Kismat Konnection to help him get over Kareena. The news spread everywhere that the two are seeing each other and Vidya is taking utmost care to help Shahid get back to his normal self. However, as soon as the film released and was acclaimed an average, Shahid and Vidya went separate ways as if nothing had happened between them.

Ranbir-Sonam
Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor are childhood buddies so when they started working in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya, they hit it off instantly. Immediately the rumour mills got active and churned the news of the two being in love. Many newspapers went to the extent of clicking pictures of the two entering a restaurant and having a cozy dinner. Around the same time, there were also reports of Ranbir getting close to Deepika Padukone. Even before people could figure out who’s the girl the Kapoor lad was seeing, Deepika announced her love for Ranbir. Thus, another promotional love affair went kaput.

This was one affair, which was so cleverly executed that people were made to believe that Priyanka Chopra and Hurman Baweja are a committed couple. Wherever they promoted their film Love Story 2050, they were seen so much into each other that nobody doubted it could be a promotional fling. However, with film’s release, its flop show at the theatres and an immediate break-up, it became crystal clear that it was just another promotional stratagem to get the crowds to theatre which too flopped as the film.

Ranbir-Bipasha
Playing a Casanova in Bachna Ae Hasseno had taken its toll on Ranbir Kapoor. Rumouredly, Bipasha Basu and Ranbir Kapoor gelled like house on fire. A few ‘insiders’ claim that they were so much into each other during the shoot that even Deepika Padukone was feeling shaky. Even at press meets or TV shows, the two were seen having the maximum words while the other two damsels Deepika and Minissha Lamba were actually in distress. However, as soon as the film released, the buzz of the actors getting intimate died its natural death with none of them bothering to explain the reasons.

Ever since Shahid Kapur came out of his sudden break-up with Kareena Kapoor, he went on a dating spree jumping from one co-star to another. When Kaminey came into being, there were reports of Shahid Kapur and Priyanka Chopra getting cozier than you generally need to with your co-star. Immediately, people started spotting them at restaurants or roads roaming hand in hand. But as the film’s release date is approaching, the two have allegedly ‘split’ as their purpose was served. But as soon as the film released and the moolah gained, everything was back to normal as quick as it was deformed.

Soha Ali Khan courted many boys in her small tenure as an actress. While her link-ups with Rang De Basanti actor Siddharth began after the film’s release, her alliance with Kunal Khemu began on the sets of Dhoondte Reh Jaoge. She then did another film with Kunal, 99 and the rumours of the two being madly in love made rounds of every tabloid. The makers of DRJ, to cash in on the pair’s affair, spread that the ending of the film has been changed according to Kunal and Soha’s liking. However, within days of the films’ release, their much-talked about affair turned out to be another hoax call.

Adhyayan-Anjana
While people were shocked to hear about Adhyayan Suman and Kangna Ranaut’s hook-up, they were amused to hear regarding Adhyayan and his Jashnn co-star Anjana Sukhani’s rumoured affair. After all, as few of the sources close to Suman said, Kangna is elder to Suman Jr. and they don’t look good together. Anjana, however, was not amused and announced that she’s not seeing Adhyayan. Now NTC provides other CDMA DATA Service using SKY DATA Card. Its a wireless service. You will need a CDMA wireless modem to use . But its negative point is its no cheap. You will charged on the basis of data you used . eg 10 kb =0.5 paisa.

Rahman's biography out on June 10

Penguin India today said it will publish a biography on music composer AR Rahman titled A R Rahman The Musical Storm on June 10.

This is the first authorised biography of Rahman to have been written by Chennai-based Kamini Mathai. The book talks about the death of Rahman's father RK Sekhar when Rahman was nine; his efforts as a teenager to keep the family afloat by playing sessions, missing schools; his reasons for embracing Islam and turning to Sufism; his discovery by Mani Ratnam and his subsequent ascent to fame, Penguin said in a release.

Earlier this year, Rahman created history by becoming the first Indian musician to win an Oscar.

Akshay Kumar has a busy year ahead

Though Akshay Kumar has denied that he is in the race to be the number one hero he is said to be the busiest actor in bollywood. Like every year this year too seems a busy year ahead for the Khiladi Kumar. He will be busy working and traveling non stop.

He has just finished shooting for the second season of his fear factor series Khatron Ke Khiladi recently in South Africa. The entire shoot has been hush-hush as they want to surprise the audiences.

In addition, he has also competed the shooting for Ratan Jain’s De Dana Dhan being directed by Priyadarshan. He is currently shooting for Vipul Shah’s Fast Forward with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Karjat. After the completion of which he will then start then shooting for Sajid Nadiadwala’s next titled House Full, which will be Sajid Khan’s second directorial venture after the super success of Heyy Babyy.

Once he is done with House Full by the last quarter of this year Akki will then concentrate on his own production banner Hari Om Pictures and start a film, which shall be directed by Priyadarshan and work on a film he is committed to do with UTV Motion Pictures.

Fourth flop in a row for Saif Ali Khan

Believe it or not but in his only release of the year so far, Saif Ali Khan has delivered a box office disaster. Incidentally this is his fourth box office failure in a row over last 12 months, what with ROADSIDE ROMEO (where he did the voiceover), THODA PYAAR THODA MAGIC and TASHAN being mighty flops in themselves.

Ok, so let’s reveal the suspense. This film in question is SANAM TERI KASAM, an age old project featuring Saif Ali Khan in lead along with Saif Ali Khan, which was revived a few days back and has expectedly went completely unnoticed. In fact majority of cast and crew members of the film were not even aware that SANAM TERI KASAM, which was earlier known as YEH PYAAR HI TO HAI, had even released on 22nd May 2009 at a mere 15 cinemas.

Collections have been downright pathetic for this stuck-in-the-cans film with a mere 4 lakhs coming from these 15 cinemas. In fact the film’s release was akin to some of the old films like YEH LAMHE JUDAAI KE (starring Shah Rukh Khan), MUJHE MERI BIWI SE BACHAO (Akshay Kumar) and YAAR MERI ZINDAGI (Amitabh Bachchan) amongst many others which released decades after being made, arrived without fanfare and went back into cold storage without even completing a single weekend at the box office.

An ULTRA film directed by Lawerence D’Souza (of SAAJAN fame), SANAM TERI KASAM was ready since the mid-90s. Incidentally, when the promos of the film were first released, two of its tracks had turned out to be big hits too. Tuned by Nadeem Shravan who had returned with Lawerence D’Souza once again after SAAJAN, these songs were ‘Ye Pyaar Hi To Hai’ and ‘Ek Baar Ek Baar Pyaar Se To Bol’.

Finally, after a wait of a decade and a half, SANAM TERI KASAM managed to make it to theaters courtesy the producers’ strike due to which theaters were willing to screen any and every movie that was made available to them. With SANAM TERI KASAM not finding any takers in spite of Saif Ali Khan’s name being associated with the project, it won’t be hard to presume that producers as well as multiplexes would keep themselves miles away from reviving such dated films in future

Oh, how much of a trick can the ‘First Look’ of a movie do? One quick look at the poster of TEEN PATTI and you know why production houses along their marketing teams and publicists spend so much time, effort and energy in coming up with that perfect ‘First Look’ of their product. That’s further substantiated when you get to see Amitabh Bachchan and Ben Kingsley sharing the same frame for this Leena Yadav film that has created a stir ever since the poster was unveiled.

The poster features the two legends standing in front of a white board/wall that has dozens of mathematical equations scribbled on it. To further support the visual appeal and the theme of the film, there is also a caption that reads - ‘An equation that changed all other equation’. Predominantly a Black & White framing with a touch of red thrown in, TEEN PATTI ensures that it is not a frivolous affair by showcasing it’s men in their suited-booted avtar, what with Madhavan and a few newcomer actors also staring from another poster of the film while wearing a similar outfit.

TEEN PATTI features Ben Kingsley as Perci Trachtenberg, a character who is widely regarded as the word’s greatest living mathematician. The actress is shooting for Yashraj Films’ Pyaar Impossible in Bangkok with co-stars Uday Chopra and Dino Morea and the trio has been having a ball hanging out together in clubs after the day’s shoot. It was in one such night club, reports say, that Priyanka met her former beau Aseem Merchant.

It’s unclear if the meeting was accidental or scheduled, but Priyanka and Aseem reportedly ended up spending some time together.

Priyanka was linked with Aseem even before she entered Bollywood. Her relationship with Aseem reportedly started from her modeling days and through her rise to fame after winning the Miss World crown in 2000 until the year 2002 when the duo decided to part ways. Rumours are rife in Bollywood that Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle was in Mumbai last week hoping to meet up with Aamir Khan with a view to casting him in his next movie. The director is said to be impressed with Aamir’s work and has shrugged off Aamir’s comment that Slumdog was over the top.

Danny was also in Mumbai to check up on the housing conditions for Slumdog Millionaire stars Azharruddin Ismail and Rubina Ali. "They are really wonderful kids who have been brought up in very difficult circumstances," he said of the two young stars, "It has obviously been a very difficult period, but the best possible benefit that Slumdog Millionaire could ever give them is an education and we are very, very proud that they are making progress and have passed all their exams. Danny will be heading the jury at the Shanghai International Film Festival along with actress Andie McDowell and Chinese superstar Andy Lau. Producers of Kahani Ghajini Ki take Ghajini to Court

In an instant-replay version of what happened with Yashraj Films' Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic, the producers of Ghajini woke up on Monday morning to a court summon from the producers one KBC Pictures, claiming that they've the rights to remake the Tamil Ghajini and that Aamir's film is therefore an infringement of their (KBC's) copyright.

The film titled Kahani Ghajini Ki has an Amitabh Bachchan lookalike in the lead. Hassled and frazzled by the pre-release procedures, Ghajini's producer Madhu Mantena rushed to court on Monday morning where the honourable judge allowed him to go ahead with the release procedure, arguing why the allegedly aggrieved party waited till a few days before the release of Ghajini to express his grievance. But the producers of Ghajini have been asked to return to court on December 24, a day before the film's worldwide release.

Says Madhu, "This is such a blatant and crude method to stop our film's release. Obviously, the honorable judge saw through it and asked us to proceed, though we are supposed to present ourselves again in court on December 24. But it's a rather sad misuse of the judiciary by people who have nothing better to do than harass others. Where do they get the time to indulge in such transparently-fraudulent efforts? I mean, who had ever heard of Kahani Ghajini Ki until now? At least, I hadn't."

Iqbal, the producer of Kahani Ghajini Ki, claims that KBC Pictures made a film by the said name, which has the same story as Ghajini, and that it cost them Rs 10 crores. Says Madhu, "It seems to me that this is nothing but an effort to make money by putting out a false case." Fortunately, Ghajini's release is unlikely to get affected. "We're holding special previews on 24 December before the release, but no premiere. The only time Aamir Khan had a premiere was for Imran's Jaane Tu...Ya Jaane Na. He's a better producer than I am."

Aamir Khan doesn't approve of premieres. Madhu adds, "Even the mood at the moment is not conducive for celebrations. A premiere is too much of a hassle at the moment with so much happening around."

All efforts to locate Iqbal of KBC Films failed.

Yash Raj Films' Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi that hit the screens on Dec 12 has proven to be a boon for the production house breaking its jinx of delivering duds this year. The film has broken all earlier opening weekend collection records for Yash Raj Films, grossing approximately Rs 600 million worldwide on its opening weekend.

The banner's earlier releases this year, Roadside Romeo, Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic and Tashan were cold-shouldered by the audience despite major pre-release promotion though Ranbir Kapoor starrer Bachna Ae Haseeno managed to do average business at the box office.

However, Rab Ne... has given Yash Raj Films a new lease of life. It was believed in the trade circles that the production house was releasing the film at a wrong time - when global economic slump was on and soon after the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.

Directed by filmmaker Aditya Chopra, the film is Shah Rukh Khan's first release of the year and the first Shah Rukh-Aditya Chopra collaboration in over eight years after post Mohabbatein (2000).

"It's after a long time that a good movie has came out of the Yash Raj camp and that too with Aditya Chopra and Shah Rukh coming together after eight years," said Joginder Mahajan, a Delhi-based distributor.

"Though the collections for the movie have not been cent per cent, they have been beyond expectations so far. It is the first big release after Dostana and has no competition till the next two weeks until Ghajini releases on Dec 25. So, it has full chances of reaping the benefit," he added.

Set in Amritsar, Rab Ne... is the story of a mismatched couple played by Shah Rukh and debutante Anushka Sharma and how the pair explores love in the backdrop of a dance competition.

According to a statement released by Yash Raj Films on Monday, the light-hearted romantic comedy has crossed boundaries and even set records in the Middle East. The film has also received a grand opening across all overseas markets, including Britain, US, Australia, Europe, Africa, and other territories in Asia.

Akshay Kumar says no to Promotions for a cause

Akshay Kumar was in Delhi yesterday to promote the Special Olympics of which he is the brand ambassador. Special Olympics is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities to become physically fit, productive and respected members of society through sports training and competition. Akshay was to run to and fro from the Red Fort to Sheesh Dargah in Chandni Chowk on Sunday morning for the Special Olympics, and decided not to promote his film at the event.

Akshay decided to have a recce of the location where he had to run next morning. During the recce, he saw several posters of Chandni Chowk to China .

Our source said, “Akshay asked an employee from Warner Brothers who was present with Akshay why the film was being so heavily publicised even though it would only release in mid-January.

The Warner Brothers employee informed Akshay that since he was going to run on the same route the next day for the Special Olympics and that would attract a lot of media attention, it would be a nice way to promote the film.”

Surprisingly, Akshay did not take advantage of the situation. “Akshay was very unhappy on hearing this. He immediately asked them to remove all the posters from the route on Saturday night.

He said that since he was there for the Special Olympics and not for the film’s promotion he did not think there should be any Chandni Chowk to China posters on that route next morning,” said the source.

Everybody was surprised but Akshay made it very clear that he did not want the focus to shift from the cause.

The lead actors of Chandni Chowk to China don’t want to leave any stone unturned for the success of the film. On Sunday morning, Deepika Padukone went to Tirupati to pray for the success of the film. She messaged Akshay from there: `I am in Tirupati and I will bring prasad for you.’

Akshay too then suddenly decided to go to the Golden Temple in Amritsar after he had attended the Special Olympics. In reply, Akshay sent a text message to Deepika that read: `I am going to the Golden Temple and I will also bring prasad for you.’

Dulha Mil Gaya Almost Complete

The entire shooting of Dulha Mil Gaya, except for a quwali song, wrapped up on December 10. The film has been held up for quite a while now due to the unavailibilty of Shah Rukh Khan's dates. And it seems that when he did return to shoot the film, there was an accident on the sets, forcing the makers to cancel the shoot.

Dulha Mil Gaya has been extensively shot in Mumbai, Trinidad & Tobago and the interiors of Maharashtra, including Pune, Wai and Panchgani. The film stars Fardeen Khan in the lead along with Sushmita Sen. The other members of the cast include Mohit Chadda, Tara Sharma, Johnny Lever, Parikshit Sahni, Bina Kak, Howard Rosemeyer, Suchitra Pillai, Viveck Vaswani and introducing Isshita Sharma. And of course, there is SRK in a very important special appearance. The film has been produced by Vaswani and its writer,director cum lyricist is Mudassar Aziz. The cinematographer for the film is Sunil Patel and the choreographer is Ahmed Khan and Rosemeyer. The music has been composed by Lalit Pandit. The film is being readied for a release in the summer of 2009.

Sanjay Dutt appointed UN Goodwill Ambassador

The Intergovernmental Institution for the use of Micro-algae Spirulina Against Malnutrition (IIMSAM) was impressed by Sanjay Dutt’s mediation of Gandhigiri in Lage Raho Munnabhai and appointed the actor as its Goodwill Ambassador to achieve the United Nations Millennium Development Goals for eradication of malnutrition and hunger.

IIMSAM's Director General H E Ambassador Remigio Maradona says, "I am confident that Mr Dutt, who brought relevance to the Gandhian values through his Munnabhai character, will help us free the world of malnutrition and hunger."

Sanju says, "It is a privilege to be associated with a cause that will shall provide me with an opportunity to contribute towards eradication of malnutrition and to secure UN's Millennium Development Goals. I pledge my commitment to the cause 200% and will be available whenever and wherever IIMSAM requires me for its mandate to bring nutritional security in calamities; and other peace and educational initiatives of the organisation."

Sanju’s wife Maanayata Dutt collected the award on behalf of both from United Nations director Shalini Dewan on the 60th year celebration at an award ceremony held in Amritsar by All India Human Rights Association on 11 December. She also represented her husband on a UNESCO peace rally to the Wagah border the day before. According to her, "It's matter of great honour and prestige for us. Sanju will help in eradicating malnutrition and hunger of children throughout the world."

Sanjay has always been associated with various social causes, such as for cancer and AIDS patients and for drug prevention. Maanayata has joined him in his social work and also is part of the group We The People, founded after the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai to spread socio-political awareness amongst the Indians.

SRK Amongst World’s Most Powerful People

Shah Rukh Khan ranks as the 41st most powerful person in the World according to Newsweek magazine, one place above Osama Bin Laden and one place below Jeff Bezos, the owner of Amazon.com. The list is produced annually and of course is open to argument (no Amitabh?) but does provide some entertainment and forms the basis of much end-of-year party discussion. Barack Obama comes out as no.1 on the list – even though he’s not yet President – with Hu Jintao as no.2 and Nicolas Sarkozy as no.3 – really? Sonia Gandhi clocks in at no.17 and the highest placed American actor is Will Smith, although not in the top 50. Many would argue with that too with Will’s career in decline.

Newsweek defends the inclusion of SRK on the list: "It's not just that his romantic flicks make gazillions it's where those gazillions come from. Khan is huge in the Muslim world, even in Pakistan and Afghanistan, where the mullahs ban his films. (The movies thrive on the black market.) Their main appeal is certainly the song-and-dance numbers, but Khan (a Muslim married to a Hindu) makes devoutly secular films where love trounces bigotry."

Meanwhile, Aamir Khan has dropped a cat amongst the pigeons with his comment in a TV interview that SRK is afraid to work with him. "Shah Rukh feels scared to work with me. I often say let's do a movie together but he always rejects (the offer)," he said. This might well put paid to the thaw in the recent frostiness between the two great Khans following the ‘brand wars’ argument when SRK had stated, possibly tongue-in-cheek, he was the leading brand in Bollywood and had no competition.

The tortuous production of Dulha Mil Gaya is nearly complete. Filmed almost entirely in the Caribbean, the last major segment was filmed recently and included SRK, who has a significant role in the movie which also stars Fardeen Khan and Sushmita Sen. “The entire star cast of the film, including Shah Rukh Khan, participated in the schedule,” says director Vivek Vaswani, “With the exception of one Qawali to be picturised on Shah Rukh Khan and Sushmita Sen in February, all of Shah Rukh Khan’s work in the film is complete.”

It's all a number game: DILLI 6 is now DELHI 6

From the beginning, the Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor starer was known by its Hindi name "Dilli 6". However, as the release date drew closer, the film title was changed to its English form Delhi 6. Why the sudden change? It is perhaps a simple belief in numerology. Let's take Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, the maker of the film, for example who added an extra "Y" to his first name. Numerologically speaking, the new title would actually be beneficial for everyone involved with the film. The old name "Dilli 6" adds up to the number 18, which is not auspicious at all for Abhiskek and Sonam. However, "Delhi 6" adds up to the number 24, which is very powerful. This new name will mainly prove to be beneficial for Sonam Kapoor and the producer Ronnie Screwvala. Ronnie Screwvala's date of birth is the 8th June, and 6 is one of his luckiest numbers.

Let's hope that the new name change does wonders for the film. Here's wishing Delhi 6 the best of luck at the box office.

US Box Office: Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi gains record opening

It was welcome relief for power house producers Yash Raj Films as their latest film, Shah Rukh Khan starrer Rab Ne Bana Doi Jodi, gained a massive opening in the United States.

According to released stats, Rab Ne… collected $911,771 in its first weekend surpassing all other Bollywood releases of 2008 in America. It’s per screen average was also third best of the weekend, a rocking $10,985.

The film is being shown on only 83 screens stat wide.

Aamir Khan shed tears to get eight-pack-abs in Ghajini

No pain, no gain. The saying couldn't be more true for Aamir Khan and the team that painstakingly sculpted those eight-pack-abs, snipped up four different hairstyles and designed the actor's varied looks in Ghajini that have become a rage among his fans.

"It took Aamir 13 months of workout, with a daily regime of about four hours, to achieve the next to impossible look for Ghajini," Satyajit 'Satya' Chaurasia, who trained the actor for the film, told IANS.

"He used to get tired exercising and sometimes even used to shriek in pain and cry doing the stomach crunches, but he did not skip a single day. Every week his body used to show results and that kept him going," added Satya.

Getting eight-pack-abs was not a cakewalk for "perfectionist" Aamir. Other than rigorous workouts, the actor also had to go through the pain of "a disciplinary regime of following a proportionate balanced diet."

"He had to give up on oil, sugar and alcohol consumption and late night parties as I strictly asked him to sleep for eight hours at a stretch before the workouts," said Chaurasia.

Releasing on December 25, Ghajini is the much-hyped Hindi remake of director A.R. Murugadoss' Tamil hit with the same name. The film was simultaneously released in Telugu in 2005.

While the original Ghajini featured southern actor Surya Sivakumar along with actress Asin Thottumkal, Murugadoss cast Aamir to play the main lead in the Hindi remake and repeated Asin in the remake.

Apart from his physique, what has also been the talk of the town is Aamir's scarred and buzzed off hair in the forthcoming film.

"The buzzed hair style is given to suit both Aamir's character and him as a person. It's basically for the second half of the film where he has a situation that requires him to shave off his hair.

"It took us around an hour and a half to give him the look and get the scar lines on his head with thickness variations as per the director," revealed Avan Contractor, hairstylist for the actor in the film.

"We took liberty with the lines on his head and tweaked the look a little bit from the original Ghajini, where the actor has only one big scar," she added.

On being asked how she managed to give the actor numerous hairstyles for the song Behka behka, Contractor said: "The song was shot over a period of five days and we had to work with Aamir's hair, whatever he had at that time. We just dressed it up differently and played around with it."

To spice up Aamir's multiple avatars in the film, stylist Arjun Bhasin was roped in to design "realistic" but "fashionable" costumes for him.

"He plays a corporate executive who is very rich. So his corporate look is stylish. However, at the same time, it is very realistic. He sports a casual office look, but with a quirky edge to it," Bhasin said.

The stylist also predicts that Aamir's business look from the film will inspire people to change their wardrobe.

"There are many elements from Aamir's corporate look that people are going to adapt in their lives like short sleeves, slim ties and waistcoats with lapels," he said.

"His other looks in the film are only in a song that are fantasies," he added.

Bhasin also said the film didn't require much going into books for Aamir's dresses.

"Ghajini is one of my few films where not much research has gone into the costumes. It was a very organic process that Aamir and I went through. We read the script and decided to just work upon it. All we knew was that his looks should be attractive and at the same time meaningful."

Bipasha not allowed to dub for her Bengali film!

Bipasha Basu is absolutely livid that the producers of Rituparno Ghosh's Bengali filmShob Charitro Kalponik have allegedly refused to let her dub for the film. In fact, Basu says she was waiting until the right time in her career to do a Bengali film and insists on dubbing for her character herself.

"When I first came to know that I wouldn’t be dubbing my own voice I was furious. I’ve gone through this process of having my voice dubbed by someone else. No way will I allow this to happen to this film!" she fumes to Mumbai Mirror.

She claims that the producers have told her she can only dub for the print that will be submitted for a National Award simply because the National Award does not consider any performances that are not dubbed by the original artist.

In response, Bipasha says, "I don’t want some alien voice to speak for me. I don’t care if I get awards or not. Why should I dub only for the National award? My audiences know me well enough by now, they can’t be conned by another voice." A valid point!

However, interestingly enough, the producers have denied this completely and said that allowing Bipasha to dub would only boost the value of the film. Director Rituparno Ghosh has a history of dubbing his heroines, but Bipasha still claims this issue is not his fault.

For Bipasha's sake, we all hope that all the prints of the film will bear her voice and only her voice.

Asin in 'Endhiran' Remake?

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s movie with Rajnikanth, Endhiran, hasn’t even finished filming and yet it’s already producing imitators. And why not? Who wouldn’t want to imitate a movie that features llamas dancing with showgirls ,a crazy robot, action scenes choreographed by the Matrix’s Yuen Wo-Ping and of course the stunning good looks of Aishwarya, herself, dressed in a gorgeous Inca costume and filmed amongst the classic ruins of Macchu Picchu? Aishwarya is currently in Chennai filming the final portion of the movie.

So in response to the long post-production period expected for Endhiran with state-of-the-art CGI graphics to be produced, it is rumoured that Asin will star in Hindi version of the film that will also star Ranbir Kapoor. The film will be made by the ambitious GV Films who have recently completed a remake of the John Abraham starrer Taxi No. 9211 and is said to resemble the plot of the Rajnikanth/Aishwarya movie. It’s conceivable that the movie could be shot and released before Endhiran. GV Films are also planning to move into animated movies next year. Asin of course is currently waiting on tenterhooks to see the critical and commercial response to her role in Aamir Khan’s Ghajini, which also stars Jiah Khan.

Miss India is back

There were lots of assumptions going on for the past couple of months regarding the sequel of the super hit movie Mr.India released in 1987 and directed by Shekar Kapur.

As Anil Kapoor was the protagonist of the flick, there was no doubt that in the sequel also he will be appearing as the hero, but the majority of the media speculations were centered on the topic of whether Sri Devi who has not been seen in any Bollywood films for a long time will make a comeback.

Now it has been confirmed that Sridevi has given the nod to partner Anil Kapoor and once again revive the still talked about chemistry between one of best screen couples in the history of Bollywood.

However Shekar Kapoor will not be directing Boney Kapoor's Mr.India 2 but will be handling the responsibility of a creative advisor.

Most probably Anurag Basu will be the man who will be calling the shots for the flick.

Anurag said that he is in advanced talks to direct Mr.India 2 and Manmohan Shetty who is the co-producer said that the final decision on the director will be taken on December 11.

Although Mr.India was released two decades back, the appearance of Anil Kapoor has not changed much and he still has the same clout over the film lovers and Sri Devi is looking more graceful than ever.

Delhi Belly is not a sex comedy : Imran

Ranbir Kapoor had opted out of Delhi Belly, saying he wouldn't be able to watch the film with his parents. Imran Khan, on the other hand, is cool with the sexual content of his uncle Aamir Khan's English film, but maintains it is not a sex comedy.

"I'd have no problem watching it with my mom or girlfriend. I've a cool rapport with my mom," Imran said.

Imran rejects the notion that Delhi Belly is a sex comedy. "It's a caper comedy. But, yes, the language is on the stronger side," he said.

Imran has lost weight and is looking gaunt for his role in Delhi Belly, which he insists is being made for creative reasons. He admits that since it is in English, it was bound to have a limited appeal.

"This new gaunt look is for Delhi Belly. I needed to lose that muscular look. So I've stopped gyming completely. I'm not exercising at all. No lifting of weights. And I'm eating as much as I want because I'm not prone to fat at all," said Imran, who won many hearts with his chocolate boy looks in his debut Jaane Tu...Ya Jaane Na.

"For Kidnap and Luck, I needed a bulkier role. I played a daredevil and had to jump off the 20th floor. I insisted on doing it myself although the body-double was present. I got a shouting afterwards from my mom, girlfriend and Sanjay Dutt. In fact, Sanjay Dutt phoned Aamir to complain. After having jumped from that height, I've lost the fear of stunts," he said.

But he did get a dressing down from uncle Aamir.

"It's true Aamir was unhappy when he heard that I insisted on performing my own stunt. He called me over and said, 'You've to be more responsible towards yourself and your family.'

Imran says the stunts always look more real when an actor performs them himself.

"You can always tell the difference between an actor doing it and a double doing it. So I'll think about it. But for now I've had enough of stunts. I want to take a break and do something lighter. Delhi Belly is just the break I needed."

Two back-to-back action films, and Imran is now saying goodbye to the genre for a while.

"I got no chance to do any stunts in Jaane Tu.... I made up for that in Kidnap and Luck. Now in Delhi Belly I've no action scenes. My next action film will have to be really big. I grew up being thrilled by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis. And I had decided if I do those kinds of stunts, I'd do them on my own," Imran said.

After doing Cheeni Kum, a contemporary take on relationships, Amitabh Bachchan and Tabu are teaming up again for period film The Legend Of Kunal.

The film, to be directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi and produced by Amitabh's company AB Corp Ltd, has the Big B playing emperor Ashoka and Tabu his wife Tishyarakshitra. This would be the first film Tabu is signing after R Balki's Cheeni Kum.

"Tabu had not a moment's hesitation in saying yes to the role of emperor Ashoka's powerful wife Tishyarakshitra, so powerful she swayed the entire Mauryan Empire with her politics and aura. We needed an actress with the strength of conviction," said Dwivedi, who has earlier made period film Pinjar.

"History and its cinematic treatment demand the characters to be true to their antecedents. And emperor Ashoka, who is caught in his twilight years in my film, had to be played by Bachchan saab. Only he possesses the gravity, sobriety and personality along with being the age required.

"I wouldn't make Ashoka without him. As for Tabu, she plays his young, fiery, assertive wife. She's an actress I've wanted to work with for a very long time. Again, only she could play Tishyarakshitra," Diwedi said.

In addition, the film will star Arjun Rampal as emperor Ashoka's son Kunal. Amrita Rao will play his wife Kanchanmala. "Again, I cast them because of their suitability rather than saleability," Dwivedi said.

"In fact, Amrita was recommended by Jaya Bachchan. Tabu and Amrita have many dramatic confrontation scenes together. I needed an actress who could hold her own against someone as powerful as Tabu. Amrita is delicate but strong," he added.

The director, who became a name to reckon with after directing the television epic Chankaya, is determined not to make compromises with history or with his creativity in making The Legend Of Kunal.

"It's a big responsibility, not only to history but also to Bachchan saab, who has never in his long and distinguished career played a historical character. Isn't that ironical? It's also a responsibility because after Cheeni Kum, audiences would want to see what has been done with the very unusual and striking pair of Bachchan saab and Tabu. I can't afford to slip up."

Dwivedi has just wrapped up the very complicated process of writing the "Upanishad" for the small screen, which his wife, the very talented Mandira will direct.

"I'm now devoting all my time to The Legend Of Kunal. I'll be accompanying Bachchan saab to Bodh Gaya in Bihar, the birthplace of the Buddha, for a visit. My film deals with those years when the warrior Ashoka reforms into a saint. I need to get both Bachchan saab and myself into the mood."

What's so funny about Jay Leno going to primetime?

Everything, according to the outgoing Tonight Show host and his late-night replacement, Conan O'Brien.

"We're going to be doing a new show in the fall," Leno said in his monologue Tuesday. "We'll start at 10 p.m. right after the last hour of the Today show.

And, he added, "As you may have heard there were rumblings that I was leaving NBC and going to ABC, and let me tell you something, those were nothing but rumors started by a disgruntled employee: ME!"

NBC announced that Leno will stay with the struggling network and host a new primetime comedy/talk show five nights a week starting in the fall of 2009.

"We're going to try it," Leno said later in the show. "If it works, great. If it doesn't, we've had a hell of a ride. For the last 17 years, it's been a privilege to say, 'Please stay tuned for Conan,' and I'm glad I'll be able to do that again."

O'Brien, who is taking over the Tonight Show, opened his late-night show Tuesday by saying, "I saw something on the front page of the paper that absolutely shocked me. I was stunned and I have to say I didn't see this coming and I just had to share it with you for a second."

O'Brien opened a New York Post with the Leno news on the front page and then a New York Daily News, also with the Leno headline, and complained the two papers gave different weather forecasts.

"Let's get our stories straight here, people! This is insanity!" he said.

On a more serious note, O'Brien said, "I've talked a lot about this with Jay. I am thrilled. I am absolutely thrilled that Jay is staying at NBC. He has been my lead-in on this program for 16 seasons. He is a fantastic lead-in. He is a huge part of my success. I am indebted to Jay Leno. And I love the idea that that relationship is going to continue."

After congratulating Leno, he added, "Also I've talked it over with my producer and that means I can keep doing my Jay Leno impression."

T.R. Knight Asks to Leave Grey’s Anatomy

Seattle Grace is about to lose another doctor.

Grey’s Anatomy star T.R. Knight, who has played lovable intern George O’Malley since the show’s debut, has asked producers to write him off the hit medical drama.

While details of his exit have yet to be ironed out, a source close to the situation says that it seems likely Knight’s request will be granted and he will be released from his contract.

Recent reports that Knight has not been attending table-reads for upcoming episodes or that he had walked off the set and cleaned out his dressing room are inaccurate, a rep for Knight tells PEOPLE: “He has been there every day. He was at a table read yesterday. He hasn’t said goodbye to anyone.” The rep had no further comment on his possible exit.

Of speculation that Knight was still upset about former cast member Isaiah Washington’s alleged use of a homophobic slur about him — which prompted Knight to reveal he was gay, and which some felt series creator Shonda Rhimes took too long to rectify with Washington’s dismissal — a source familiar with Grey’s says it is false.

“The Isaiah stuff has no relevance at all,” says the source. “T.R. doesn’t even know why people would mention it. It was so long ago.”

So why does Knight, who remains a fan favorite, want to leave?

“Have you seen the show lately?” says the source. Knight has received little screen time this season, with the show focusing on controversial storylines like the romance between Katherine Heigl’s Izzie and her long-dead lover, Denny.

“It’s time to move on,” says the source. “It just feels like this is the right time to go.”

News of Knight’s possible exit, first reported by EW.com, comes after Grey’s made headlines last month when actress Brooke Smith, who played Dr. Erica Hahn, was abruptly let go from the show.

ABC had no comment.

Aniston and Butler Really Hooking Up

According to Variety, Aniston and Butler are talks to star in an as-yet untitled comedy centering on a bounty hunter whose latest mark just so happens to be his ex-wife, who is wanted after skipping out on bail. Hitch director Andy Tennant will helm the flick, which starts shooting this May.

• Ben Affleck is using his star power to raise Arizona, a real-life drama that will allow the Gone, Baby, Gone director his second shot behind the camera. Per Variety, Affleck will direct the film about an Arizona Republic reporter killed in a 1976 car bombing while investigating an organized crime ring. It's unclear if Affleck will also appear in the film.

• It's all a numbers game for Keanu Reeves. The Matrix maven has signed on to star in 47 Ronin, according to Variety. Set in 18th century Japan, the film will follow the true story of a group of samurai swordsmen who avenge the death of their master and are still revered today.

Oprah Winfrey Admits to Tipping the Scales at 200 Lbs

Having packed 40 pounds onto her former 160-pound self, Oprah Winfrey is declaring, "I'm mad at myself" because she's "fallen off the wagon."

As the media mogul, 54, writes in the January issue of her O magazine hitting newsstands Tuesday (and provided in advance to the Associated Press by Winfrey's Harpo Productions): "I'm embarrassed â¦ I can't believe that after all these years, all the things I know how to do, I'm still talking about my weight. I look at my thinner self and think, 'How did I let this happen again?' "

For starters, the fact that her thyroid was out-of-balance gave her "a fear of working out," she says. "I was so frustrated I started eating whatever I wanted â and that's never good."

Having slimmed down to 160 in 2006, she admits, "Yes, you're adding correctly. That means the dreaded 2-0-0."

Past Diets

Winfrey memorably revealed her new look on her show in 1988 â by wheeling out a wagon loaded with fat to represent the 67 pounds she had shed. On that episode, she sported a pair of size 10 Calvin Klein jeans.

"My greatest failure was in believing that the weight issue was just about the weight," Winfrey told PEOPLE in 1991. "It's about not handling stress properly."

But when it came to slipping into those jeans, "I had literally starved myself for four months [on a liquid-protein diet] â not a morsel of food," Winfrey, an admitted food addict, said in 2005. "Two hours after that show, I started eating to celebrate â of course, within two days those jeans no longer fit!"

Choosing a gown for the Barack Obama inauguration coming up in January, however, made Winfrey realize her self-image was no longer jibed with the person standing on the scales â though the real low point occurred last April.

"I felt like a fat cow," Winfrey writes of the occasion when she sought to skip out on a Las Vegas show taping with Cher and Tina Turner. "I wanted to disappear."

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Winfrey's weight and height rank her as obese, with a body mass index of 31.8 â putting her at "at higher risk for chronic conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol," says the CDC.

Winfrey intends to address the issue on The Oprah Winfrey Show, which will kick off "Best Life Week" Jan. 5.

Suspect in Shooting of Mark Ruffalo's Brother  in Custody

Shaha Mishaal Adham, a suspect in the attempted murder of hairdresser Scott Ruffalo – who is the brother of actor Mark Ruffalo – is in police custody, PEOPLE has  confirmed.

Adham, 26, turned herself in to Beverly Hills police on Monday. Police issued an attempted murder warrant for her arrest earlier on Monday. Adham is being held without bail.

 Adham's friend Brian Burton Scofield, 29, who is "a person of interest" in  the case, also arrived at the police station with Adham. He was booked for a misdemeanor traffic warrant for past  violations.

Scott Ruffalo, 39, was shot in the head on Dec. 1 at the condo where he lives on North Palm Drive in Beverly Hills.

A well-known hairdresser who worked in salons such as Kenneth George in  Santa Monica and Giuseppe Franco in Beverly Hills, Ruffalo has had run-ins  with the law in the past. In 2002, he was convicted for possession of a  controled substance with intent to sell.

Kate Hudson Plans Christmas on the Cheap

Kate Hudson is still shopping for Christmas presents. But in tough economic times, the actress says she’s feeling the pressure to cut back on spending – just like everyone else.

“I think it’s a really weird time and I think that everyone is feeling it,” the Oscar nominee told reporters Friday at a Los Angeles press conference for her new film, Bride Wars.

Instead of buying expensive gifts, Hudson, 29, says her family relies on handmade presents to save money and to keep things more personal.

Holiday Crafts

“We’ve always been pretty crafty anyway,” she says. “We all knit. The girls knit. This year I’m doing these great big knit…well, actually I shouldn’t even talk about it because I can’t say it!”

As usual, Hudson will spend the holidays on the slopes in Colorado, with son Ryder, 4, in tow. Ryder started skiing last year, Hudson says, and quickly graduated from the bunny hill.

On his first day of lessons (at the same ski school Hudson attended as a child), the actress showed up at the bunny slope to ski with Ryder and let him show her his new skills.

But Ryder was nowhere to be found.

Snow Days

“I started panicking a little bit because I couldn’t see him anywhere,” Hudson says. “And the [instructor] came over and said, ‘Oh, actually, he’s up on the mountain.’”

Shocked, Hudson made her way to the base of the mountain in pursuit of her son. “I’m standing there in my skis and I’m looking up and all of a sudden I see this little kid in camouflage and I’m like, ‘No!’” Hudson says. “He is just zooming down the mountain and I started to cry.”

It was just a wave of nostalgia though, she says, she wasn’t worried… yet.

“I grew up skiing, and then you see your kids ski and there’s a freedom in it, a freedom in that that you recognize in them and a confidence that kids start to get when they do things like that,” she says. “It was a big little moment.”

“Now he’s going to be terror,” she says. “So the helmet is on. I’m going to put like those rubber things on the bottom of his skis so that he doesn’t go too fast.”

Shah Rukh Khan in Malaysia to recieve the title of "Datuk"

Katrian Kaif hits injury

Katrina Kaif had a slight accident on the sets of Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani when she was shooting a scene with Ranbir Kapoor. The actress is believed to have hurt her nose and actually had to pack up and take care of her nose.
It seems that during one of the scenes being shot for the film recently, Ranbir had to turn around suddenly and when the actor did so, his hand struck her face hard, by accident. The scene had the duo being chased by some goons, and it required Ranbir to turn around suddenly and face Katrina. And when he did so, the accident happened. The impact made Katrina stumble and fall to the ground holding her nose. Of course, since she realized that it was an accident, she did not complaint. Director Raj Kumar Santoshi had to call off the shoot for that day and the next to allow his heroine to recuperate from her injury.

New Details of Jodie Sweetin Split Revealed

New court papers shed light on the deteriorating marriage of former Full House actress Jodie Sweetin to husband Cody Herpin.

"Our house is in foreclosure, our water has been shut off twice. Currently, all of our other utilities are overdue," the actress says in papers filed Nov. 19 in an Orange County, Calif., court, describing the 16-month union as "rocky."

Herpin, a driver and transportation coordinator in the film industry, stopped working after they got married, Sweetin alleges. "[He] kept finding one excuse after another for his failure to even attempt to find employment," she says.

Sweetin, 26, claims the couple were kept afloat financially with Full House residuals and help from their parents.

The actress filed for legal separation from Herpin, 31, last month. The latest documents are a request for a court order allowing her to retrieve her belongings, as well as clothing and toys for their 7-month-old daughter, Zoie, in the event Herpin "prevents [her] from peacefully taking these items." Sweetin claims she worries Herpin "will become very emotional and possibly erratic."

"She Won't Talk to Me"

Reached for comment, Herpin tells PEOPLE that Sweetin has returned home four times since the above filing, but "she won't talk to me," he says, and his emails to her have gone unanswered. "I still have no idea what this is about. None of this makes sense."

As for his lack of employment, "I was the stay-at-home dad, my job was taking care of Zoie," due to Sweetin's busy schedule, Herpin says. He is seeking sole legal and physical custody of the couple's daughter.

"My client has cooperated with Ms. Sweetin in the several times she's returned to the family residence," says Herpin's lawyer, Robert Benavente. "As for her other claims, some of which are false, we will address those in court documents."

Angry Incident

In her filing, Sweetin describes a heated moment Nov. 17 when she says she told Herpin she no longer wanted to be married to him and that she was moving in with her parents.

"He told me I could not take Zoie with me. He said he would call the police and report that she was abducted by me and seek sole custody. He grabbed Zoie from the floor where she was playing ... but put Zoie down and later went for a walk." Sweetin says she then took their daughter and their dog and went to her parents' home.

Herpin called her claims "ridiculous."

The actress has filed for joint legal and physical custody: "I would never deprive [Herpin] of seeing our daughter ... However, I believe he is going to try to prevent me from seeing [her]," she says in the recent court papers.

A hearing in the case, which includes a mediation session, has been scheduled for Feb. 9.

"I've known her since she was a teenager!" Union told PEOPLE at Ideal Bite's "Best in Green" Awards on Thursday. "It's been nice to see that her music and her lifestyle choices and her acting choices have all evolved as she's gotten older."

Most notably? The development of Beyoncé's stage persona, Sasha Fierce.

"Beyoncé is quiet and reserved, very Southern, sweet and polite," Union said. "If someone told me that girl was gonna go on stage and do the kind of performances that she does, and be so fiery, and this quintessential and iconic entertainer, I'd be [in disbelief], like, 'Yeah, okay!' "

There's no doubt that Beyoncé has grown up over the years, but one thing that hasn't changed her, Union says, is marriage. (The singer wed rapper Jay-Z in a super-secret ceremony earlier this year.)

"They were good to each other before, they're good to each other now," Union noted. "They seem very happy when they're around. As long as there's more smiles than frowns, I suppose that's the key."

While speaking to PEOPLE about his latest charitable efforts, Yankees star Alex Rodriguez commented for the first time on his relationship with Madonna.

"We're friends," Rodriguez, 33, says.

Asked if there is any romance between them at all, Rodriguez reiterates, "We're friends – that's it."

While rumors have swirled that the slugger and the singer, 50, have been carrying on a romantic relationship and flying around the country in order to spend time together, "I can tell you this," Rodriguez says, "I have never been on a plane with her."

He also finds much of what's been written about them laughable: "I've been to two [of her] concerts, yet I've read that I went to 20. I've also read that we were buying an apartment together. That is absolutely ridiculous and not true."

"You have to have a sense of humor when it comes to this stuff," Rodriguez adds.

When pressed on how much time they have spent together, and whether he had ever stayed the night at Madonna's home, Rodriguez laughed: "If I answered every rumor we'd be here for three weeks."

(A source close to Rodriguez tells PEOPLE that reports of his spending the night with Madonna are "completely, unequivocably false.")

Focused on Charity

While Rodriguez and Madonna were both in Mexico City last weekend, Rodriguez says his time was focused on running a baseball clinic for kids.

"When you're among 200 kids and teaching the game of baseball it gives you an amazing feeling," he says, "just that you may inspire kids to reach their goals, whether it's baseball or whatever their goals might be."

The desire to help children is something he and Madonna have in common – and one reason he has become a supporter of Madonna's Raising Malawi charity.

"I initially knew nothing about her charity," Rodriguez says. But after being invited to one of Madonna's fundraisers, he found that "we shared a lot of the same commitments toward helping children. I was very moved by the whole thing. I saw the documentary and it was very inspiring and informative. I saw an opportunity to help and I jumped at that."

Rodriguez jumped into three other philanthropic efforts on his own recently as well: He's funding the completion of a Pediatric Outpatient Unit at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center in New York City; funding a Community DentCare Network at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine (to provide preventative dental services for kids); and completing a new learning center at the Boys and Girls Club in Miami that A-Rod himself frequented as a child.

"If it wasn't for the Boys and Girls Club, I wouldn't be where I am today," Rodriguez says. "So I feel a great responsibility to not only give money, but to be there, and to be seen by the kids. I still hang out at the Boys and Girls Club."

Dealing With His Divorce

Rodriguez, who amicably settled his divorce with wife Cynthia, 35, in September, also addressed rumors that he and Cynthia had been arguing.

"I have a wonderful relationship with Cynthia," says Rodriguez, who shared Thanksgiving dinner with his ex and their two children, Natasha, 4, and Ella, 7 months, last week. "We try to be the best parents we can."

As for the amount of time he spends with his children, "I see my children, honestly, seven days a week, which has been great. We both have a lot of respect for each other and she's a great lady."

As for Madonna: "I have a lot of respect for her," he says. "She's very committed to making the world a better place. She's had an amazing career, and we're friends. That's it."

A source further reveals to Mid Day, "The terror attacks in Mumbai have marred Bollywood as well. Since the government is talking about cutting all bilateral ties with Pakistan, it does not make sense to release an Indian film there. RNBDJ is a big release for Yash Raj, and SRK is a huge star in Pakistan. If the film doesn't release in Pakistan it will definitely be a setback for the audience there."

RNBDJ releases in India on December 12 and was slated to release in Pakistan at the same time.

Anne Heche may not have Men in Trees but she has babies coming out of the woodwork.

The 39-year-old actress, fresh from a rather nasty custody battle, is expecting her first child with boyfriend James Tupper, 43, according to Heche's rep, who told Us Weekly the couple "are thrilled."

Each was still married when they met in 2006 on the Vancouver set of ABC's Men in Trees, which lasted two seasons. They debuted as a couple shortly after Heche filed for divorce from her hubby of more than five years, Coley Laffoon, in February 2007.

Before finally settling their differences in June, the estranged exes traded barbs galore as they fought over custody of their now 6-year-old son, Homer, with Laffoon objecting to the boy spending too much time in Vancouver with mom and her new beau.

When asked last year whether she was open to having more children, Heche told Extra, "Gotta leave it open, ya know what I'm saying?"

Coldplay, the Jonas Brothers and Lil Wayne go together like, well, Grammy nominees, of course.

The acts all scored top nominations tonight for the 51st Annual Grammy Awards.

Coldplay and Lil Wayne notched Album of the Year nods for Viva La Vida and Tha Carter III, respectively. Ne-Yo (Year of the Gentleman) and fun-music couple Alison Krauss and Robert Plant (Raising Sand) also were nominated. Radiohead rounded out the category with a nod for In Rainbows, thus potentially causing Grammy-scoring headaches for people who think Radiohead is Coldplay or vice versa.

Lil Wayne led all artists with eight nominations. Coldplay scored seven. And not that Kanye West pays attention to such things, but he did well to pick up six, as did Ne-Yo and Jay-Z.

The Jonas Brothers made their mark in the Best New Artist category.

Joe, Nick and Kevin Jonas will vie for the honor against U.K. singer-songwriters Adele and Duffy, Philadelphia-born R&B star Jazmine Sullivan, and the country group Lady Antebellum.

In the Record of the Year category, Leona Lewis' "Bleeding Love" will take on Coldplay's "Viva La Vida," Adele's "Chasing Pavements," M.I.A.'s "Paper Planes" and Plant and Krauss' "Please Read the Letter."

Adele's and Coldplay's signature hits from the past year are also up for Song of the Year, a prize for songwriters. Also nominated there: West's "American Boy," Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours" and Sara Bareilles' "Love Song."

Nominations were announced during a first-ever "nominations concert" held in Los Angeles and aired live in some times zones on CBS.

Do you remember when you first met Britney?
I met her at a club in Hollywood, Joseph's. Our eyes met and that was it. We just hit it off right away. I learned real fast how much of a whirlwind the press and everything was.

What are your happiest memories of the marriage?
Well, getting married. I never thought that I would get married but it wound up happening. That was a really, really, happy, exciting moment. I pretty much realized that I was giving my life to her, and I was doing it without question.

What went wrong?
It's hard enough to be in a marriage, and then have a kid, then kids, it changes everything. For me, I'd become more concerned with my children. Not that I ignored Britney, but my kids are always most important ... I mean, we were having complications. I didn't give her an ultimatum, but I was trying to work stuff out with her, and she didn't even talk to me or anything and went behind my back and filed [for divorce]. [I was] completely blindsided.

A lot of people assumed you fought for custody of the kids because of money.
My first question to [my lawyer] was, "Am I ever going to be able to see my children?" I told him that I would spend every last dime that I had to make sure that my children are okay. That's all that mattered. I didn't know how much power Britney had. That really scared me.

How did you react in January when Britney locked herself in the bathroom with Jayden and was later taken to the hospital on a gurney?
That whole night is a blur. You want to talk about one of my lowest points of depression, that was probably one of them. I was very, very worried for her 'cause I care about her. That's the mother of my children. Just because I'm not in love with her doesn't mean that I don't love her. I'm definitely rooting for her. There's nothing more that I want than for her to be in the best health and doing what she loves to do.

Are things getting better?
Oh, man, it's totally turning around. It works out that [the kids] get to see her. There's structure over there, there's structure at my house. We're trying to keep the same type of schedule. It doesn't have to be completely perfect, but the foundation is there.

Dylan McDermott Finalizes Divorce

The 47-year-old actor filed for divorce from Shiva Rose, 39, last summer, citing the legal boilerplate of irreconcilable differences.

While the judge signed off on the split, McDermott doesn't become officially single until Jan. 2 after the legally required six-month waiting period.

The L.A. Superior Court papers don't reveal the custody status of the pair's two daughters, ages 12 and 3. In the original divorce filing, McDermott had sought joint custody.

McDermott, who most recently appeared on Big Shots, and Rose, an actress, were married in 1995 and separated in March 2007, according to the papers.

McDermott, who played an attorney on TV, acted as his own lawyer in the divorce, according to the papers.

National Britney Spears Comeback Day is finally here, and we have a 27th birthday, an album release, actual tour dates and two Good Morning America performances to commemorate this very special event.

Brit-Brit put on her best non-Madonna ringleader costume and performed her new single “Circus” as well as “Womanizer” (after the jump, but it’s no different than her three European performances this weekend—same walking around and a dude getting beat up). All this fun took place under a giant circusy tent complete with jugglers, clowns and the Spears fam, including Mama Lynne, Papa Jamie and her boys Sean Preston and Jayden James.

After Brit finished up with "Womanizer," Diane Sawyer and Robin Roberts wished the pop princess a happy birthday—as did Hugh Jackman, Reese Witherspoon and Taylor Swift via videotaped messages. Britney seemed just as confused by this part of the show as we were.

While they claimed the event was "just the two of [them]," Pratt confirmed that the Hills' cameras caught what Montag called "the best moment of my life."

(That said, the Nov. 20 nuptials didn't constitute a legal union, and the couple are still lacking certain symbolic jewelry. They have previously said they will take care of those details and make things official in a civil ceremony at some unspecified date.)

Cruel. It's just cruel! If you've seen the tragic episode-ending scene, get in here. There is much to discuss.

* Claire died! But the trouble for Heroic blondes doesn't stop there. Please tell me that Sylar did not just kill Elle. Because I could have sworn that, not hours before, Sylar had thrown Elle to safety at the cost of his own life. If he wanted her dead, he certainly could have left her behind, wounded and weak, a sitting duck for H.R.G. Instead, he sacrificed himself and died for her. (Oh yeah, Sylar died too, in this episode, until the end of the second eclipse restored by his and Claire's healing power. Get it? Got it? Good.) Gabriel loves Elle, Elle loves Gabriel Gray, and even with all that self-loathing pessimism he's wielding these days, I can't believe that he just sliced her head open! Could someone please tell me that this is a double-cross on Sylar's part? I'm clinging to a hope that it all ties back to what Sylar told H.R.G., how he'd like to become a guy who values "home and family, but is not afraid to do the job I have to do." (Who's with me?)

* Sam and Frack are awesome. (And props to the writers for incorporating a Comic Book Guy shoutout in the comic book guy scenes.) Like a walking Heroes Wiki of storyline trivia, the guys zeroed in on a tiny comic-book detail that lesser nerds might not have noticed: Claire and Hiro peering out from the shadows at the moment 16 years ago when Kaito asked H.R.G. to raise Claire. (Easily the best time-travel hijinks in a long time.) And even though Claire's mad at her dad right now--he did desert her on her deathbed--I think this might be the beginning of a new understanding between the two of them, and any Claire-H.R.G. rapprochement is just fine by me!

* Maya is still around. Maya Herrera is still here. Eden, Charlie, Kaito and Adam Monroe were rubbed out--but Maya is still popping up. Oy. I really thought we'd seen the last of her, but tonight, when Mohinder thought that he was cured, he ran right to her doorstep, and then when his scales returned, he freaked out and ran away, conveniently dropping a clue to his whereabouts in his wake. A clue that Maya will, no doubt, use to find Mohinder again. In another episode. No comment.

Britney Spears: Getting Back in Shape

Britney Spears showed off her fit body – and a fierce dance routine – during her recent European mini-tour. But what did it take for the pop star to get back in shape?

A lot of hard work, the pop star says.

"I have had to work hard at getting [my body] back to where it used to be," Spears tells Glamour in its January issue. "I used to be obsessed with working out ... But I can't get motivated right now because I'm so focused on my music."

What about her workout regimen?

"It isn't fun [for me], so to do it every day would be horrible," Spears say of going to the gym. "Three days a week is cool, even two. It makes me feel good and feel like I've done something. It's important to take care of your body."

Still, Spears, who will turn 27 on Tuesday, says that with her efforts comes a new appreciation for her body. "Recently I started to appreciate my body a bit more from before I had kids," the singer says. "But it completely changed."

Family Time

Spears will release her sixth album, Circus, which she describes as "really personal," on Tuesday as well – and will continue her media blitz, performing on Good Morning America. But despite her recent world travels, and whirlwind schedule, the singer says she likes being home and spending time with her sons, Preston, 3, and Jayden, 2.

"I fix breakfast for my kids when they're here," she tells Glamour. "And then we'll go for walks. During the day I spend most of the time with my children. At night is when I go to work."

With motherhood in mind, Spears passes along some tips for her sister, Jamie Lynn, who is a new mom.

"As a mother, the one thing that always goes through your head is, 'You're never enough. You never can be enough – or do enough – for your kids,'" she says. "It's a never-ending issue for me. I had to learn: Don't beat yourself up so much ... You have to take it one day at a time, do the best that you can and enjoy yourself.

"I notice that if there are some times I've been stressed ... that affects your kids," she says. "So you have to make sure you're a happy mom so they can be happy."

As for her own wishes for her family, the singer, who also spoke out about her tumultuous relationships ("I have good days and I have bad days," she says) in an MTV documentary that aired Sunday, tells Glamour she has a five-year plan.

"In five years I would like to be married and have a father figure for my kids, someone who is a provider and can be really stable," Spears says. "It's hard doing it on your own."

Accident on Shah Rukh Khan's sets

The sets of the much-delayed Shah Rukh Khan film Dulha Mil Gaya caved in earlier today. While there were no casualties reported, it is believed the accident will further delay the shoot.

Producer Vivek Vaswani has been making this film for the last few years now but for various reasons has not been able to complete it. One of the major causes was Shah Rukh Khan's busy schedule.

The film, which also stars Sushmita Sen was being shot at Vihar Lake in Mumbai's Powai area. Apparently SRK was shooting a song sequence for the last four days there.

When we spoke to director Muddassar Aziz, he confirmed the news. He said, "A portion just caved in as it was being put up. Fortunately there was no mishap on the sets. The noise alerted the workers and they moved out. No one else was on the sets. We will have to postpone the shoot for a day now."

Aziz further said, "After we can the song, the shooting of the film will be over."

Madonna and Alex Rodriguez were both spotted in Mexico City last weekend.

The two have not confirmed their romance. But they reportedly had their public "coming out" Nov. 26, when, according to E!, the Yankees third baseman handed Madonna a water bottle during her Miami concert.

They also apparently met up on Thanksgiving, after Rodriguez fulfilled his family obligations.

When asked what he thought about being in the capital city the same time as his rumored paramour, the baseball star would only say it was "very good," the Associated Press reports.

The 50-year-old Madonna – whose divorce from Guy Ritchie was finalized just days ago – was in town to perform a pair of concerts on her "Sticky & Sweet" tour. Rodriguez, meanwhile, was invited to inaugurate a new sports complex in the city, and spent two hours on Sunday teaching kids to bat.

"It's a pleasure to talk about baseball, to talk about the importance of keeping children off the streets, out of drugs and out of all the bad things that there are in this life," the 33-year-old said in Spanish.

Amy Winehouse's husband says he wants out of their marriage – for her sake.

"I have to let her go to save her life," Blake Fielder-Civil – who is currently in rehab after being released from jail in November – told a British newspaper Sunday. "I am not abandoning her. I am doing this out of love."

During the interview with the News of the World, Fielder-Civil also admits that he "introduced" the 25-year-old Winehouse to crack and heroin. (Audio files from portions of the chat are available on the paper's Web site.)

The former video production assistant – who wed Winehouse in 2007 – denies being after the singer's money and says he will not "fight her for anything."

Winehouse's U.K. spokesman, Chris Goodman, says he is unaware of anything formal underway to end the marriage.

Winehouse has not visited her husband at the rehab center where he was sent as a condition of his early release. He spent almost a year behind bars after pleading guilty to charges of assault and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Meanwhile, Goodman tells PEOPLE that the singer remains hospitalized at a London clinic and is "doing fine." The rep says she is being seen as part of her ongoing medical care.

Britney Spears hasn’t given up on love. The former Mrs. Kevin Federline says she’d like another walk down the aisle.

“In five years I would like to be married and have a father figure for my kids, someone who is a provider and can be really stable,” Spears says in the new issue of Glamour magazine.

In another apparent jab at K-Fed, Ms. Spears says, “It’s hard doing it on your own.”
But potential suitors, beware—Spears is not the wild child party girl you may want her to be. Even though she had an early birthday celebration last night at club G-A-Y in London, the comeback pop princess swears she’s over that scene.

“I don’t like going out,” Spears tells writer James Patrick Herman. “I hate clubs. I hate being around too many people. I love my home and staying in bed and watching Dancing With the Stars or reading a Danielle Steel novel. I’m kind of boring.”
We beg to differ. The last year or so has been anything but boring.
With head-shaving and hospital visits behind her, Spears' life really took a turn for the better when she picked up three Moon Man statues at the MTV Video Music Awards in September. “When I received the awards and [the audience] stood for me, it showed how much love is out there,” she says.

For now, Spears moves on with her international promotional push for her new album, Circus, before launching a world tour sometime next year. She’s also got some New Year's resolutions to take care of.
“I would like to stop worrying so much, because I worry all the time,” she says. “And to learn how to be happier, just in general. I have to learn to take things not so seriously. And to stop biting my nails.”

Despite reports this weekend that the Pirates of the Caribbean star had gotten engaged to his supermodel girlfriend Miranda Kerr, E! News has learned it is not true.

According to Australia's Sunday Telegraph, Kerr revealed that she had gotten engaged and that she and Bloom were vacationing in Venice, Italy last week to celebrate the news, but her rep says that is incorrect.

"The story published in the Australian Sunday Telegraph suggesting Miranda exclusively revealed she is getting married is completely false and misleading," says her rep. "Miranda herself has clearly stated she is not engaged. There is nothing else to be said."

Just this month Kerr was quoted by Page Six Magazine saying "I've always wanted kids, so someday, eventually, yes, it will happen. My ideal situation would be to live on a farm in a solar-powered house with a hammock and a vegetable patch." She made no mention of Bloom and her current relationship. These are the quotes that the Australian Telegraph used to support their story.

He writes, "A few days ago the problems plaguing us were issues concerning estranged relationships with family members, that fight you had with your sister or that impending break-up with your lover. Our focus has now shifted to something so much bigger than us, but in order to fight this fear, in order to regain confidence as a city we must strengthen ourselves. We must fix our problems at home before we can tackle attacks from outside."

Even Maqbool actor Irrfan Khan demanded accountability and transparency from the concerned authorities. He was quoted by Mid Day saying, "There have been so many situations in the past, so many lives lost... but who has been held responsible or punished? It's not just the responsibility of the government. Every department who knew about what was happening should be held accountable and punished!"

Ricki Lake has trimmed 140 lbs. from her all-time top weight of 270 pounds – and says she is holding steady.

"I can’t believe I was a fat person for most of my life," the former talk show host, rocking a sexy black Herve Leger dress (size small), told PEOPLE at a recent benefit for the New Space for Women's Health, a New York City birthing center slated to open in 2010.

"I didn’t have surgery and I worked hard. There's no secret. I’m active. I watch what I eat," Lake, 40, adds.

But she's certainly not immune to the pressure to stay thin. "According to Hollywood standards, I'm not a thin girl. I’m a normal girl," says the mom of two boys, Milo, 11, and Owen, 6. "I don’t want to perpetuate that obsession but yet I am also guilty of wanting ... to lose weight."

"I'm just grateful that I have sons and not daughters because it’s that much harder," she says.

Lake sticks to meals delivered by a service called Fresh Dining ("It's organic, it's fresh, and I still love it," she says) but admits unpredictable factors in life could one day interfere. "With the weight stuff I don't have any answers," she says. "Something tragic in my life could happen and I could balloon and gain weight. I can’t promise I will be like this forever."

Recently, Lake has been focusing on making a sequel to her 2007 documentary The Business of Being Born, and is working on a guide to pregnancy, due out in May.

And with the holidays in full swing? "I will be really conscious because I have this book coming out and I want to look great," she says. "I don’t need to lose anymore weight. [But] I don’t want to go backwards. So I'm not going to pig out this Christmas."

The film, to be produced by Saif Ali Khan and directed by Sriram Raghavan, will see Saif play a RAW agent. It was supposed to star Deepika in the lead role opposite Saif. But as it seems now Kareena will play the heroine instead.

Director Sriram Raghavan confirmed the news rather diplomatically. "Kareena and Saif will play the lead roles," he said adding, "The rest of the cast will be finalised by December 10."

Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez celebrated Thanksgiving with his family in Miami before heading off to spend time with Madonna just days after her preliminary divorce from Guy Ritchie was granted, according to reports.

Rodriguez scored a front-row seat at Madonna's South Florida concert Wednesday night at Dolphin Stadium, where he helped the pop diva stay cool between numbers by passing her a bottle of water from his seat, E! reports.

But he other had obligations the next day. The New York Daily News reports that Rodriguez enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner in Miami Thursday afternoon with ex-wife Cynthia and daughters Natasha, 4, and Ella, 7 months.

Reports surfaced earlier this week that Rodriguez was planning to abandon his children on Thanksgiving to spend time with Madonna in New York. However, a source tells PEOPLE this was never the case.

"He always had every intention of spending the holiday with Cynthia, the family, and his two daughters," the source says. "There was never any intention of him flying back. The allegations regarding this trip to New York [to be with Madonna] couldn't be anything farther from the truth," the source says.

Instead, Madonna extended her Miami trip and the pair were able to spend the holiday together anyway. The Daily News says that Rodriguez rushed off to Star Island, where Madonna has a home, soon after wrapping up Thanksgiving dinner with his family.

As Madonna completed her second song before a sell-out crowd in Miami's Dolphin Stadium Wednesday night, New York Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez handed her a bottle of water.

"It was easy for him to hand it off because he was sitting in the front row," a witness tells E! News. "He was all excited watching her perform."

And, just like that, Madonna acknowledged in public, less than a week after her quickie divorce from Guy Ritchie, that A-Rod is indeed the superfan (and waterboy) he's reportedly been for most of this year in private.

The two arrived in town together on Monday and spent most of Wednesday hanging around town with pal Ingrid Casares, a prominent Miami party promoter, who introduced the pair.

Madonna, 50, hit the stage of her last Sticky & Sweet American concert two and a half hours after the show was supposed to start. The Material One played from about 10 p.m. to midnight, including a guest appearance by Pharrell Williams during the closing set.

A-Rod, 33, who very publicly spent Tuesday with his family at a local restaurant, stayed throughout the entire performance.

Shenae Grimes Denies Eating Disorder Rumors

90210 star Shenae Grimes says people who wonder about rumors swirling around her – that she has an eating disorder, behaves badly on set and is a party girl – should ask her before believing what they read.

"Nobody has asked me about it. I really can't help what someone thinks of me because they are reading a paper and choosing to believe it," Grimes, who denies the rumors, tells PEOPLE in its new issue.

The 19-year-old Toronto native says the experience of moving to Los Angeles earlier this year parallels that of her character, high school student Annie Wilson. "It was a huge culture shock," says Grimes, who became tabloid fodder the minute she was cast in the CW show, a remake of the uber-successful 1990s FOX drama.

Soon after her newfound notoriety kicked in, Grimes – and her female 90210 costars – were slammed for being too thin and accused of having eating disorders. "It's so frustrating," the 5-foot-3-inch Grimes says, noting that she does not have an eating disorder, but did have a close friend struggle with one for years.

"Meet me in person, and you can't say anything. No bones sticking out," Grimes, who has been thin all her life, tells PEOPLE. "Just because people are calling you skinny doesn't mean I'm like, 'Yay!' No! You're telling me I don't look right. This is me, this is my body – I have accepted it."

As for being a diva at work and a party girl at night, Grimes shrugs it off. "The hours I work I definitely can't," says the self-described homebody who likes to watch DVDs and hang out with friends.

"These are stories that have been written about everybody," says the star. "Of course we're the new girls on a hit show so we're plopped into these little boxes. And people buy it. It makes me totally second guess anything I've ever read about anybody."

In relation to the defamation case filed by veteran actor Manoj Kumar, Shahrukh Khan and Gauri was asked to appear in the court. Along with them, Farah Khan was also being asked to remain present before it on February 22 for Om Shanti Om where Manoj Kumar's replica played by Shahrukh Khan was shown beaten up by police guard when he tried to enter the movie premiere.

The aged actor was deeply humiliated for that derogatory scene of beating and reacted strongly about it. Though Farah and Shahrukh apologizes the actor for their wrong, Manoj Kumar did not rest in peace. The makers tried to convince him in many ways but failed to do so and ultimately Manoj Kumar dragged the trio to the court.

Manoj Kumar’s allegation against them is that they had lowered their image and reputation in front of all. To compensate the lost image, he demanded rupees and insisted deletion of that particular objectionable scenes from Cds and DVDs.
